With Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Vincent van Gogh Limited Edition 4810, Montblanc celebrates Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most famous painters of the 19th century. In particular, this edition recalls the period that the artist spent in Arles, with decorative details that recall the wheat fields of Provence, as well as one of his most famous paintings: "Sunflowers". The number 1888 engraved on the body ring – next to Vincent's signature in bright orange – commemorates the year he moved to Arles. The body is decorated in shades of yellow and orange that evoke the sun-drenched landscapes of southern France immortalized in Van Gogh's works. Van Gogh developed a freer, more flexible style and became skilled with both the brush and the palette knife, which he used to spread thicker and more impetuous strokes of color, creating works with “impasto” paint. His spatula inspired the platinum-coated clip, while his sweeping brushstrokes are evoked by the yellow lacquer on the cap top. Furthermore, the passion for the pipe, present in many of his self-portraits, is captured in a refined detail of the clip: the upper part has the shape of the head of a pipe and is filled with precious yellow resin. Paying homage to Vincent's love of traditional Japanese woodblock prints, the overall shape is inspired by a Japanese carving knife, while the cap is crafted from wood. The edition is crowned with a Montblanc emblem in yellow precious resin.
