Without OUTER box OMAS require no introduction and since their sad demise in January 2016, the hunger from fans and collectors for great examples of their writing instruments has increased dramatically! The company was founded by Armando Simoni and the full name was Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni, abbreviated to OMAS. Beautiful fountain pen Omas Ogiva "Amerigo Vespucci" entirely made of fine wood briar, large size (15 cm) Two-tone 14kt gold nib size F, piston filling, including the box also in briar with interlocking closure. Unfortunately I don't have the box, the pen is like new, used only for testing The Omas Amerigo Vespucci Limited edition was issued in 1991 and it is the first Limited Edition Omas manufactured in the 1990s. The pen is an Ogiva 557 in red briarwood. The packaging is very elaborate: the box is contained in a piece of of fabric coming from a sail.Inside the box there is room fro the pen and for a tube in briarwood which is meant to be used as a pen case. Every detail of the pen and its packaging is designed to recall the famous Italian vessel, which is depicted on the outer box, too. It is definitely a high quality limited Edition which testifies Omas' attention to details and their evocative power. The pen is unused.
